My name is Ashley Byrd, and I am a doctoral capstone student from Spalding University’s Auerbach School of Occupational Therapy. I have partnered with Bernheim Forest for my 14-week long research project where I will be gathering data on Bernheim Forest facilities, including Playcosystem, on aspects of accessibility, inclusivity, and nature-based play from an occupational therapy lens until the middle of August.
I have created a survey for parents of children who have visited Bernheim and utilized Playcosystem. This brief survey may be accessed through this link or QR code provided here and is answered anonymously. The QR code also will be posted at Playcosystem if you find yourself at Bernheim over the next few weeks. I will also be in person periodically at Playcosystem until the beginning of July to encourage visitors to complete the survey.
The findings of this data will allow Bernheim to gather feedback from visitors to make changes to the completed Zone 1 of Playcosystem, as well as inform the development of Zones 2 and 3 to create an inclusive play environment for all visitors regardless of age or ability.
Thank you for considering taking time to complete this brief survey. I look forward to analyzing the data from the survey from an occupational therapy perspective and better understanding your perspectives as visitors and parents. I will be sharing more about my time at Bernheim, and some of my other projects, over the coming weeks through blogs on the CAPN website.
