Lunch & Learn: Gardening for Butterflies

Butterfly-friendly gardens include more than colorful flowers full of nectar. That is only part of the story! Learn about planting appropriate host plants for caterpillars and adding other landscape features that will help butterflies flourish. Bernheim Lunch & Learn programs are designed for adults who enjoy spending time outdoors with others and celebrating the natural world. ECO Kids Discovery Day: Journey to the Giants

Fe-Fi-Fo-FUN!!! The giants are here for everyone! Your task is to visit all three of Bernheim’s Forest Giants and complete the activity booklet. HANDS-ON DISCOVERY STATIONS, led by Volunteer Naturalists, from 1 – 4 p.m. HIKE OF THE DAY, led by a Bernheim guide, starts at 2 p.m. and runs 45 – 60 minutes ON YOUR OWN CHALLENGE, a self-guided adventure, available from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. FREE $5 per car weekend fee for applies for Non-members

Fe Fi Fo Fun Fest

Step into the world of Forest Giants and woodland faeries at Bernheim’s Fe Fi Fo FunFest. The spring celebration includes nature discovery stations, construction of the faerie village, costume parade, giant tree giveaways, guided tree walks, local food trucks and Isaac’s Café, and more. Local BAMS students will present a research showcase, including a catapult launch. Garden gnomes, prairie sprites, cave wizards, and other whimsical creatures also welcome. Millennium Trail Section Hike

Celebrate National Trails Day with Tony Cecil and other Volunteer Naturalists by hiking nine miles of Bernheim's 14-mile Millennium Trail. Much of this trail section is deeply wooded and includes portions of the Jackson-Yoe and Guerilla Hollow trails. Participants should wear sturdy shoes, bring lunch, and pack plenty of water.
