With 16,140 acres of land, Bernheim is full of outdoor experiences and excursions, no matter what your interest.
Hiking
Over 40 miles of trails with varying degrees of ease and difficulty weave their way through the forest at Bernheim, meaning no matter what level you are looking for, there’s a trail for you. Some are handicap accessible.
Fishing
Bring your fishing pole to Bernheim and relax under the sun by Lake Nevin. During Family Fishing Days, additional ponds are also open for fishing.
Public Art
People connect with nature in many different ways. One of those is through art. For more than three decades, Bernheim has nurtured an internationally renowned Artist in Residence program that attracts artists who use the natural world for inspiration and then leave a piece of their art for all of us to enjoy.
Nature-Based Programs
Bernheim’s nature-based education programs seek to grow and nurture an understanding of the natural world. From Smart Gardens and Landscapes to Bernheim at Night to our sought after children’s programs, Bernheim offers something for people of all ages, all year around.
Must-Sees
Our LEED platinum Visitor Center, Canopy Tree Walk, nearly 90 year-old fire tower, Children’s Play Garden, public art displays, and our one-of-a-kind Edible Garden are just some of our many must-sees at Bernheim.
