Join us for an enchanting evening around Lake Nevin at CONNECT!

By bernheim

Celebrate the intersection of art, science, and nature at CONNECT on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 4:21 to 10:21  p.m. (that’s four hours prior to and two hours following sunset).

CONNECT at Bernheim challenges minds and delights the senses throughout an evening you won’t forget.

The night includes live musical performances, spontaneous art displays, and hands-on experiences for adults and families, including making art, drum circle participation, and participatory science, not to mention, the sand pit and the glow-in-the-dark bubble play zone.

“Nocturnal” in process

Stroll around Lake Nevin to experience the 14 interactive nature-inspired art installations that will be alight after sunset. Debuting at CONNECT will be Nocturnal, the recycled plastic installation created by 2023 Artists in Residence, La Vispera and an interactive light experience that will highlight ACRE, an upcoming installation from 2022 Artist in Residence, Anne Peabody.

Don’t miss Wordfall, an interactive water experience near the Sunset Amphitheater (you’ll walk through water, but not get wet!) created by Deckel and Moneypenny.  And, of course, Little Elina one of our Forest Giants in a Giant Forest, will be lit up to glow under the night sky!

As always, live music will be woven throughout the event. Get ready to be filled with joy while listening to this year’s lineup.

The Afrophysicists
Afrobeats – The Afrophysicists are an afrobeat collective out of Louisville that layers rich, earthy vocals over the city’s finest horn and rhythm players, creating a fiery propulsive groove for their poignant politically charged lyrics, in the spirit of the great trailblazers of West African riot music.

What goes better with music than food and beverage? This year’s CONNECT will again have regional craft beer from Mile Wide Beer Company in Louisville and West Sixth Brewing in Lexington! We will also have local food trucks for your refreshment needs. It will be hot, so don’t forget to bring your own water bottle to fill up at our two water stations.
