Firefly Fridays

June 21 @ 9:15 pm - 11:00 pm

Whether from Kentucky or almost anywhere in the middle to southeastern U.S., watching, catching, and releasing fireflies on warm summer nights may be a childhood memory. Remember being spellbound by their mysterious flashing light as they seemed to hover over the ground? Bernheim provides a protective habitat for these luminescent creatures and June is the month of peak performance for this annual lightshow offered by many species of fireflies.

Bernheim has hosted the mysterious and rare Blue Ghost Firefly, Phausis reticulata, with its amazing, unusual continuous glowing display. Though we can’t guarantee they’ll visit each year, our Naturalists have suggested the second Friday of the month as the best chance of spotting them!

Bernheim members $12; Non–members $15

Registration required by 4 p.m. the day prior to the program. No pets, please.  Call (502) 215-7155 to register or click the button below to register.
