Bernheim at Night: Laser Guided Star Tour

March 30 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Enjoy an evening stroll around Lake Nevin with “Star Captains” Bill Napper and Don Spain. These Volunteer Naturalists will use a laser pointer to help you experience the celestial happenings in the night sky. Bernheim members $10; non-members $12 Registration and payment due by 4 p.m. day prior to the start of program. Call (502) 955-8512 before 5 p.m. on day of program for last minute updates and changes due to weather.

Quarter Moon Hike

April 12 @ 8:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Quarter Moon Hikes include a trek through Bernheim’s holly collection, around Cedar and Holly Ponds to the Earth Measure sculpture, and into the Big Prairie. Bernheim Members $10; Non-members $12 Ages 8 and up. No pets allowed. Registration and payment due by 4 p.m. day prior to the start of program. Call (502) 955-8512 before 5 p.m. on day of program for last minute updates and changes due to weather.

Full “Frog” Moon Hike

April 19 @ 8:15 pm - 10:15 pm

Full Moon Hikes include a walk around Lake Nevin Loop, with plenty of stops to observe the night sky, discuss nocturnal happenings, and consider our cosmic connections. Bernheim Members $10; Non-Members $12 Ages 8 and up. No pets allowed. Registration and payment are due by 4 P.M. on the day prior to start of program.

Creatures of the Night: Whip-poor-wills

Spring is an opera, complete with throaty vocals, high pitched vibratos, and an expert cast of creatures, each playing its part in this ancient drama. Creatures of the Night programs provide opportunities to experience the sights and sounds of natural phenomena that often go unnoticed. Journey with Bill Napper and fellow Volunteer Naturalists on a driving tour into sections of Bernheim where crepuscular and nocturnal creatures are most active. Summer Sky Watch & Star Stories

Join Volunteer Naturalists and the Louisville Astronomical Society (LAS) to see brilliant stars and constellations of summer through the telescopes graciously provided by LAS. If overcast, a virtual astronomy program will be presented inside the Garden Pavilion.
