Indoor Spaces
The Garden Pavilion building is easily accessible and is located at the edge of Lake Nevin near the main entrance. Surrounded by sweeping views of Lake Nevin and some of Bernheim’s most colorful gardens and plant collections, the Garden Pavilion provides a stunning backdrop for any occasion.

The picturesque Sassafras Room, located inside our Visitor Center building, is easily accessible. Designed to feel like a tree, the room provides views of the surrounding landscapes in a light and airy space. The building contains visitor information, Isaac’s Café, and gift shop areas that are open to the public during regular operating hours. Rentals can be held in the Sassafras Room only.

The Education Center Gallery is situated on a hill overlooking the Olmsted Ponds and boasts a beautiful open vista view of the Arboretum. This venue is fully accessible and conveniently located near a large parking area and is suitable for almost any occasion.

Outdoor Spaces
The Woodland Pavilion is the perfect venue for family gatherings. Located in a wooded area near the Children’s Play Garden, it provides great opportunities for picnicking and nature exploration.

The Quiet Garden is located a short distance away from the Garden Pavilion. Flowering plants and shrubs encircle a grassy area providing a breathtaking view of Lake Nevin.

The Sunset Amphitheater is a large area with a stage overlooking Lake Nevin and a tiered area for viewing. The sweeping view includes Lake Nevin and the surrounding knobby landscape. In addition, the site has a large open space for any recreational games.

The Big Prairie Overlook is the site of our sculpture, “Let there be Light,” by noted artist George Grey Barnard. It provides a fantastic view of the Big Prairie and surrounding knobs. It is the perfect location for small intimate weddings.

Road Races
The following requirements must be met for your race to be considered:
- Bernheim will collect $10 per racer, with a minimum of $2,500 per race.
- Race must benefit a children-focused charity.
- Race must be held in the months of January, February, March, or December only.
