(almost) Total Solar Eclipse “Solar-bration”

April 8 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun. While only those located in the path of totality (a band about 70 miles wide) will witness the total eclipse, the rest of the country will be treated to an impressive partial eclipse – including Bernheim!

To celebrate this cosmic event, Bernheim is hosting a party on Monday, April 8 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. for the duration of the eclipse that will allow visitors to safely observe the eclipse*, engage in solar-themed activities, create homemade solar eclipse viewers from recycled materials, and more. Maximum sun cover (over 98%) will be observed at 3:07 p.m., but the fun will last all afternoon.

We will have food trucks and a special menu at Isaac’s Café that will be out of this world!

*Eclipse viewing glasses will be handed out on a first-come, first served basis beginning at 1:30 pm. There will also be telescopes with solar filters for safe viewing.

In addition to the Solar-bration fun, we will also have our Fire Tower open 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Climb up and see the Earth prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

DO NOT attempt to view the eclipse with unprotected eyes, as permanent vision damage may occur. Sunglasses DO NOT provide protection, as special eclipse viewing glasses are needed.

Before the big day, join us for a Pre-eclipse Party on April 5th! Embark on a unique adventure with Dan Price, NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador, and other dedicated Volunteer Naturalists as we explore the wonders of the solar system.

This is a free event. $15 recommended donation per car for non-members still applies.
