My grandparents owned the farm up the hill from the Beam Distillery – which now owns it. When I was a little girl – I guess the early 60s – they would take me to Bernheim and to visit the Bunces {Frank Bunce was Bernheim’s first Forest Manager. Click here to learn more about him}. Mrs. Bunce was a good cook! And their house was kind of like a nice log cabin, I recall.
Grandaddy gave an otter to Bernheim – her name was Midge, and we’d go see her there every so often.
Haven’t been to Bernheim in quite some time – have lived in New England most of my adult life. But I remember it fondly!
