By Bernheim
As you may have heard, Bernheim is celebrating our 90th anniversary in 2019. Throughout the year, we will have special events, exhibits, and programs. Check in each month for your round up of what’s coming up as part of the 90th celebration.
One of the highlights
of the special programming is our series of 90th Anniversary Forest Tours, which will include first-time-ever access to some of Bernheim’s newly-acquired lands on the Big Level, Cave Hollow, and the Cedar Grove Wildlife Corridor, and will take visitors on a search for winter rap
tors; to visit a magnificent collection of old trees; and on a trip to take in the cliffs, caves and seldom seen locations of our 25+ square mile forest.
Join us in January for these wonderful programs. Be sure to register early by calling (502) 955-8512 as they are likely to fill up quickly.
Forest Tour: Winter Raptors, January 11, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.Venture deep into the forest to Harper, the golden eagle’s habitat where we will be on the lookout for winter raptors that call Bernheim home.
Golden Eagle Project Lecture: Return of the Thunderbird, January 18, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Have you been following Harper’s journey between Bernheim and Canada each year? Learn more about how we track him, his flight patterns and more.
Night of the Wolf Moon Eclipse, January 20 9:30 p.m. – 1 a.m. (yes, that’s overnight!)
Though we have no control over the timing of lunar eclipses, they are a rare occasion, just like milestone anniversaries like our 90th. Come experience a total lunar eclipse in the darkness at Bernheim (with coffee and hot chocolate, of course)
