Lately I have been hearing, “I didn’t know Bernheim had a café!” Isaac’s Café, located inside the Visitor’s Center offers a unique dining experience. Where else but perhaps your own kitchen could you get a body and soul warming bowl of soup made from fresh, organic vegetables that were grown just steps away?
As the fall colors fade to the stark bare branches of winter, our natural instinct is to go into hibernation mode. This works well for many creatures but as human beings, we must continue to go about our daily lives.
Our winter menu will certainly have something to please everyone from the Millennium Trail hiker to a business lunch crowd. Our staff and volunteers have been working hard to freeze summer vegetables at their peak of flavor, drying herbs and roasting root vegetables to bring you delicious home-made soups every day.
Fresh kale will continue to be available from the Edible Garden throughout the winter for use in our new Winter Kale Salad. Loaded with crisp kale and purple cabbage, dried cranberries, slivered almonds and pomegranate seeds, and lightly coated with our own citrus and molasses dressing, it is bursting with flavor. Top it with warm roasted sweet potatoes for an even heartier winter salad.
Our sandwich menu will also be updated, including the addition of a chipotle turkey wrap and a chipotle veggie wrap. Don’t worry; we will keep many of your favorites either as a regular menu items or as one of many specials that we feature throughout the winter months. As always, we have a wide selection of vegan and vegetarian options daily, keeping it healthy, fresh and sustainable.
To stay in the loop of our daily specials, be sure to follow us on facebook and twitter.
