Have a GIANT good time at Fe Fi Fo FunFest

By Whitney Wurzel

Little Nis and friends in Mid-April.

Step into the world of Forest Giants and woodland faeries from on Saturday, May 18, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fe Fi Fo FunFest . The spring celebration includes nature discovery stations, construction of the faerie village, a costume parade, giant tree giveaways, local food trucks, Isaac’s Café offerings and more.

Faerie Village

Join us around the Visitor Center, as we celebrate magical creatures of all sizes. Hike our 2-mile loop to see our family of Forest Giants – Mama Loumari, Little Nis, and Little Elina then build a house for our smallest magical creatures – the faeries. Faerie Village will be expanded, spanning the length of the Olmsted Ponds behind the Visitor Center. As always, our wonderful team of Volunteer Naturalists will be on hand with discovery stations for hands-on activities with nature.

Don’t miss our annual parade of faeries, garden gnomes, prairie sprites, cave wizards, and other whimsical creatures. We’ll have a costume tent all morning, so if you need to borrow some mythical wares, we are here to help! The parade will depart from the Visitor Center at 1:30 p.m.

Don’t miss the research showcase from BAMS (Bullitt Advanced Math and Science ) program. These Bullitt County high school students have been researching environmental issues at Bernheim throughout the year and have produced some incredible results. The finale of the day will be a catapult launch demo in the Silo Field near the Education Center, which will happen immediately following Fe Fi Fo FunFest at 4 p.m.

The Fe Fi Fo Run will consist of a 5K and 10K race, which will journey to all three Giants. Families and kids can participate in the 1-mile Fun Run, which will visit one of the Giants.
