Fall Volunteer Opportunities for the Whole Family

Jean Volunteer ColorFest 2012

Fall is a fantastic time to volunteer at Bernheim.  Not only would you be a vital help in Bernheim’s mission of connecting people with nature, but you also get to be out in the stunning autumn landscape.  Throughout the fall, we have many opportunities not just for individuals, but also for families. We encourage you to come out and “play in the dirt.”

We can always use help for one of our signature events, ColorFest – October 19-20. No previous experience is necessary – jobs range from painting pumpkins, painting faces, nature activities, and serving food.  Kids under 16 are welcome to volunteer but must be accompanied by an adult. See online scheduling information below.

Another exciting opportunity is Family Volunteer Day.  From 10am-1pm on Saturday, November 2, we will be offering a range of projects specifically geared toward families. It’s a great way for families to work as a team and to teach the value of community service.  As an added bonus, the projects can count toward school service hours (what’s better than getting them out of the way before Thanksgiving break?!). ECO Kids will immediately follow, so grab a picnic and make a day of it. Join us at the Visitor Center for fun in nature!
