Dance to the forest beat at Bernheim’s Spirit Nest

By bernheim

Bernheim’s Spirit Nest will come alive in November with local musical talent featuring the new program Sounds@the Spirit Nest! Concerts are free of charge and the public is welcome.

On two Saturdays in November, Nov. 6 and Nov. 20, from 1 to 3 p.m., Rhythm Science Sound(RSS), invites participants to bring their dancing feet and curious mind to Bernheim, and join them as they mix global rhythms with the sounds of the forest itself. RSS is a Louisville-based music collective and creative social enterprise founded by sound artists, deejays and music/tech educators Scz and Jared Zarantonello (who also goes by Yared Sound). Utilizing an array of DJ equipment, looping machines, and specialized bio-data sonification devices, RSS artists will blend electronic global beats with the bioelectric signals all around us, which interconnect and pulse through our natural environment.

This program is free, and no registration is necessary. See below for other programs in November to help you connect with nature.

Trail Discovery Hike

Explore miles of Bernheim hiking trails with our Volunteer Naturalists on the Trail Discovery Hike: Iron Ore Loop on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 1 to 4 p.m.

These longer guided hikes will help visitors become more familiar with Bernheim and its trails. The time frame for each guided hike is three hours, although these trails can typically be hiked in under an hour and a half. The guides will be taking a leisurely pace that allows participants to rest and enjoy the unique features each trail offers.

Make reservations early as space is limited. Please bring a mask in case social distancing is not possible throughout the hike.

The cost is $12 for Bernheim members and $15 for non-members. Please register by 4 p.m. the day prior to the program by calling (502) 955-8512 or visiting Bernheim.org.
