Bernheim’s Arts in Nature team is calling for outdoor installations to be displayed during Bernheim’s CONNECT event on Saturday, September 10, 2022, from 3:58 to 9:58 p.m. (Duration is four hours before and two hours after the sun sets at 7:58 P.M.)

Big Outside Art is the work of  (from left to right) Stashia Smyrichinsky, Deva North, W.G. Rickel.

CONNECT is Bernheim’s annual summer celebration honoring the relationships of science, nature, and creativity. Lake Nevin comes alive with spontaneous art, drum circles, light sculptures, and musical performances from regional artists along with hands-on art and science activities. CONNECT challenges artists to create outdoor works or experiences that emphasize our mission of connecting people with nature and speak to our focus on biodiversity, conservation, sustainability, and climate change. All works will be displayed outside along Bernheim’s Lake Nevin Loop and will be on display before and after sunset.

Bernheim offers all participating artists free admission to this amazing event.

Part of the 2019 installation Vertigo Bluff and the Macropores by Big Outside Art features Polypores which are mushrooms that grow on tree trunks or branches.

Artists are invited to submit their proposals through August 19, 2022. Please send information requested on the Artist Entry Form to Arts in Nature Assistant, Hannah Coleman-Zaitzeff, via email.

From July 5 – August 19, artists are invited to Bernheim to tour Lake Nevin (site of CONNECT event) and to meet with the Arts in Nature Team to discuss proposal ideas. Contact Hannah Coleman-Zaitzeff via email to make an appointment.
