CLERMONT — From the time the  proposed natural gas pipeline was announced, residents in the Cedar Grove area asked for one thing.

They wanted to have the opportunity to comment on the Louisville Gas and Electric gas line before it was approved.

While the matter is now in litigation between  the utility and local property owners, including Bernheim Forest, have an opportunity to voice opinions to the Kentucky Division of Water.

Until Dec. 18, citizens can voice their concerns on a permit to move forward on the project.

Part of the arguments posed by Cedar Grove residents involved in the case will be that the Kentucky Division of Water should not approve any additional permits  to move forward with the project.

The pipeline connects to an existing line in Mount Washington and runs across properties in Cedar  Grove, including new land purchased by Bernheim Forest.

Throughout the process, residents have argued that the new pipeline was part of a rate increase request from the Public Service Commission. They are seeking a start from scratch on the entire process.

Landowners who are part of a condemnation suit state that the line is not for the good of the public but only for the good of Jim Beam and other businesses.

Send comments by Dec. 18 to the Kentucky Division of Water, 300 Sower Blvd., Frankfort, Ky. 40601. Comments can also be emailed to DOWPublicNotice@ky.gov The project number is 120218 It is the LG&E Pipeline-Bullitt County.
