Celebrate Mom at Bernheim: Isaac’s Café Specials, May 8-12

11-14-16-special-chili-grilled-cheeseAnother Derby has come and gone and time to turn our attention to Mother’s Day.  It is quite fitting that this special day be celebrated on the second Sunday in May.  The flowers are blooming, the birds are singing and gardens are alive with sound, color and taste.  Bernheim is the perfect backdrop for any Mother’s Day celebration.

When I think about Mother’s Day, I recall so many of the wonderful meals my own mother lovingly prepared for every special and even not so special occasions. I recall her making dishes that she absolutely would not eat herself, but made things like liver and onions or fried oysters for may dad, just because they were his favorites.  I tried to recall some of my mom’s favorite dishes and quickly realized that for the most part, it was anything that she did not have to prepare herself.

This week at Isaac’s Café, let us do the cooking.  Bring your mom out for lunch and treat her to a meal prepared with fresh ingredients, many of which are grown just steps away in our Edible Garden. We have specials every day, homemade soups and salads from greens picked that morning.  Why wait for Sunday to show her how special she is and how grateful you are for all she has done for you?

Our $6.95 specials this week:
Meatless Monday will feature our own baked spinach falafel on Dino’s flat bread and a cup of soup.
Tuesday: Ham and cheese hash brown casserole with side salad and a roll.
Wednesday:  Gourmet grilled cheese and a cup of soup.
Thursday:  Chicken salad casserole (my mom’s recipe) buttered peas and toast.
Friday:  Tuna salad plate with fresh garden greens and house made dressing, tea or lemonade.

What your mom really wants this Mother’s Day is time with you.  Let Bernheim and Isaac’s Café help you celebrate your mom!
