Big Prairie Bloom 9-4-12

By Claude Stephens

The Bernheim Big Prairie represents an amazing story of ecological change.  In 2009 this area was a mowed field of fescue grass.  Through years of ecological stewardship it now represents a great example of native tall grass prairie.

As a result, the biodiversity of this area has increased dramatically.

In this picture you can see big bluestem, little bluestem, and a number of blooming forbes.
