Bernheim is buzzing with artists this summer including Artist in Residence,  Firat Erdim, who is making his first of two visits.  His wife, Olivia Valentine, who is also an artist, is joining him. Firat is studying the original Olmsted plan for Bernheim and intends to create a piece related to it.   Born in Turkey, Firat resides in Chicago.

Fırat is an architect, artist, and educator. His drawings and constructions have been exhibited nationally and internationally, including solo and group exhibitions at the Roy Boyd Gallery in Chicago, Elmhurst Art Museum in Illinois, the Urban Institute for Contemporary Arts in Michigan, the Ruffin Gallery at the University of Virginia, as well as 49A and Maquis Projects in İzmir, Turkey.

He recently won the highly acclaimed Prix de Rome in Architecture so in between his time at Bernheim he will be spending six months in Rome.

The accompanying photo is one of his work titled, Accumulated Topographies.

We can’t wait to see what Bernheim inspires him to create.
