We are very excited to announce Cadell Walker as Bernheim’s new Director of Development! Cadell is a Bullit County native with over fifteen years of leadership and senior management experience in the nonprofit sector. She is charged with advancing Bernheim’s development activities in major gifts, membership and annual campaigns.
Cadell comes to us rich in experience, having worked extensively on behalf of environmental conservation and stewardship for the past eight years as The Nature Conservancy’s Director of Philanthropy and Marketing for the state of Kentucky.
She has also worked in Development and Community Outreach for the Louisville Zoo, Community Health Charities, Kentucky Humane Society and as an Americorps VISTA.
Cadell’s background in conservation and the non-profit sector will be a tremendous asset to Bernheim. Bernheim receives no taxpayer funding, so member support and donations are essential to its financial viability and the fulfillment of its mission to connect people with nature.
While new to the Bernheim team, Cadell is no stranger to Bernheim. She grew up attending programs and playing at Bernheim as a child and young adult, which fostered her love and respect for nature.
Cadell attended the University of Louisville where she studied Pan African Studies and graduated with honors in 2005. She moved to Lexington, KY in 2006 but returned to Louisville with her family in 2014.
She is a current member of the Leadership Louisville Bingham Fellows Class of 2015 who is charged with building a collaborative network to improve how cities partner with state government. Walker was also a member of Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer’s Tree Advisory Commission. As an outdoor enthusiast, she is a passionate advocate on issues related to sustainability, the environment and broadening the constituency for conservation.
Welcome to the team, Cadell!
