Due to winter weather road conditions the January Backroads tour has been cancelled. Join us for future Bernheim Backroads programs.
These provide the perfect way to enjoy a guided tour of Bernheim’s best hidden spots, such as the Wison Creek stream restoration site, beaver ponds, and Bernheim’s historic fire tower. In early spring Bernheim’s wetlands will be enlivened by the activities of breeding amphibians.
These tours are led by a team of engaging naturalists, who are trained to help you make meaningful connections and have fun experiencing the natural and historic treasures of Bernheim’s backroads. Although there will be some hiking (weather permitting), much of this 5 hour driving tour will take place from the warmth and comfort of a passenger van. Frequent stops are made for closeup encounters with the natural world and unexpected delights. Bald and golden eagles are occasional winter visitors!
Bring your own sack lunch and a beverage for a noon time stop at the Bean House. Recommended for adults or children 12 years old and up. Space is limited, so make your reservations early.
