For 42 years, Bernheim’s Artist in Residence program has hosted visual artists from nearly every medium on a regional, national and international level. Alumni artists become our ambassadors and help tells our story, broadening our mission and extending Bernheim’s reach into the community as well as the art world.

2020 Artist in Residence Gabriella Boros and her woodblock prints celebrating historically significant Kentucky women and native plants is featured in FUKT Magazine, an annually produced German magazine for contemporary drawing with an international focus. After two years of wearing masks during a global pandemic, the 20th edition FUKT – The Faces Issue celebrates the art of portraits and the human face in drawing. Boros discovered the magazine through its call for submissions in early 2021 and is one of 34 contemporary artists featured. Through interviews conducted by the magazine’s editor, the artist shared her experience as an Artist in Residence and provided context for her Bernheim inspired series FEMMEnomenal Bluegrass Botanicals. The robust layout additionally features 9 of the 10 prints highlighting Kentucky women and their vast contributions to the state and society as a whole.

Congratulations to Gabriella Boros for being featured in one of the world’s leading, engaging and inspiring drawing magazines while connecting Bernheim and Kentucky to international audiences!
