Restoring Nature's Classroom
Thanks to the generous support of the Greater Louisville Sierra Club, Bernheim partners with Hazelwood Elementary School for an innovative program for 4th graders that includes multiple field trips to Bernheim during the school year. In between field trips, Bernheim educators make several visits to the classroom for additional instruction. To learn more about this program, contact Dan Pascucci.
Bullitt Advanced Math and Science (BAMS)
Bernheim’s education team collaborates with Bullitt County High School’s accelerated math and science program to provide a STEAM learning laboratory. Students in the program carry out individual scientific research projects at Bernheim, which are then showcased to the public at Bernheim’s annual Fe Fi Fo Funfest.
Want to create similar programming at your school and learn more about how BAMS students use Bernheim as a research laboratory? Contact Dan Pascucci.
YouthBuild
The mutual goal of this collaboration is for Bernheim to engage YouthBuild’s Urban Conservation Corps (UCC) participants in a rich variety of learning and work experiences that connect the participants with nature and introduce them to new and exciting career opportunities.
To learn more about this partnership, contact Candice Holt, Director of Learning and Interpretation.
My Big Little Adventure
Bernheim is proud to partner with several other great Louisville organizations for My Big Little Adventure, an initiative that gives parents of children 5 and under great ways to read, play, and explore together. Building on the natural curiosity, deep passion, and busy habits of young children, My Big Little Adventure offers a continually updated roadmap of activities, events, and resources designed especially for their families and caregivers.
Bernheim is much more than a park. It’s a living laboratory. Nature is always teaching lessons and we work to weave those lessons into everything we offer.
