Give for Good Louisville is back for its fifth year! Sponsored by the Community Foundation of Louisville, Give for Good Louisville is the biggest day of local giving. The 24 hour event was created to inspire people to give generously to the nonprofits that make our community a better, more vital place to live. In 2018, $5.4 million was raised for over 500 non-profits. Bernheim was thrilled to raise over $50,000 in 2018 and we hope to increase that amount in 2019.
The money raised will help our efforts to protect Bernheim from two threats – a proposed natural gas pipeline and a proposed highway connector. For 90 years Bernheim has protected forests, streams, springs, lakes and conservation lands in public trust. The route of the LG&E Pipeline and the Interstate 65-71 Regional Connector would cut directly through an area that is home to federally endangered Indiana bats, northern long-eared bats, Kentucky glade cress, globally imperiled bluff vertigo snail, and the recently discovered critically imperiled hidden springsnail. Bernheim protects endangered species, provides quality of life in this region with clean air, water and scenic beauty and promotes tourism.
Donating online at giveforgoodlouisville.org on September 12, 2019 is a great way to maximize your gift to Bernheim. Thanks to the generosity of Bernheim supporters, we will have a $32,500 match fund, so your gift will have double the impact. In addition, the money raised on that day is eligible for prizes and bonus dollars courtesy of the Community Foundation. Of course there are benefits for donors as well – prize drawings will take place throughout the day.
We hope you will join us for this fun day. There are no small gifts – every dollar raised is vital to Bernheim’s mission of connecting people with nature. With your help, we can #SaveBernheim.
