Save the Date: Give for Good Louisville is September 17, 2020

Give for Good Louisville  is back for its seventh year! Sponsored by the Community Foundation of Louisville, Give for Good Louisville is the biggest day of local giving. The 24 hour event was created to inspire people to give generously to the nonprofits that make our community a better, more vital place to live. Bernheim was thrilled to raise $90,545 in 2019 and we hope to increase that amount in 2020.

Donating online at giveforgoodlouisville.org on September 17, 2020 is a great way to maximize your gift to Bernheim. Thanks to the generosity of Bernheim supporters, we will have a $35,000 match fund, so each gift up to $35,000 will be matched dollar for dollar, doubling the impact. In addition, the money raised on that day is eligible for prizes and bonus dollars courtesy of the Community Foundation. Of course there are benefits for donors as well – prize drawings will take place throughout the day.

Even before the pandemic, there were already many reasons to make outdoor classrooms an integral part of the school day. Taking learning outdoors is the most powerful tool we have for creating a healthy, equitable, and vibrant classroom experience for engaged learners.

Rendering of the upcoming Playcosystem, a new play environment at Bernheim

This year, Bernheim has the goal of raising $75,000 toward supporting our outdoor education initiatives. From supporting our field trips, home school hikes, and many other youth and family programs to the construction of Playcosystem, our upcoming play space that will be a living laboratory to see how kids learn through play, to Bernheim initiative, to working with schools and school districts on incorporating outdoor classrooms into their school days, Bernheim is working to create equitable access to safe, nurturing, learning environments that offer students the space and fresh air they need to be healthy, while still allowing them to connect to their classmates and teachers.

Learning in nature puts children in touch with the seasons and all their subtle changes. Nature speaks to everyone with equal fluency. It sharpens powers of observation, piques curiosity, sparks creativity, and imparts the values of perseverance, patience, gentleness, and cooperation. It is, in other words, everything that makes an inspiring teacher.

We hope you will join us for this fun day. There are no small gifts – every dollar raised is vital to Bernheim’s mission of connecting people with nature.
