Art, Music and Fun are synonymous with CONNECT at Bernheim. This year is no different as Billy Goat Strut Revue and kRi Majesty take to the stage. Our recent partnership with theKentucky Rural-Urban Exhange (RUX) will bring new sounds of Kentucky to CONNECT with performances from artists highlighted in this blog series. These artists are a perfect match for one of the state’s most unique events.
Lance G. Newman II has been writing and performing since he was 13 years of age. Lance is a poet, instructor, author, and performing arts host. As the founder of SpreadLovEnterprise and the ‘slam master’ for the adult poetry slam team, Loohavul Lip; Lance uses his long standing relationship with the city to teach, encourage, and conduct poetry workshops and spoken word events all around. Lance hosts Young Poets of Louisville’s monthly Floetic Friday Youth Poetry Slams and has led several workshops with Young Poets. He is co-founder and member of the poetry and music collective Roots & Wings, and uses his own poetry and spoken-word events as a method to raise awareness, build community, and inspire creative social change. In 2016, Lance earned the title of champion Slam Master at the Southern Fried Poetry Slam in Greensboro, NC. Next year, he’ll bring the esteemed group of poets and performers to Louisville to host the 25th anniversary of Southern Fried.
