Sited@Bernheim periodically generates site-specific art projects, which explore our deep relationship with nature through the lens of art.
Created on-site by emerging regionally, nationally and internationally known artists, each piece becomes a part of an ongoing dialog that connects people with nature in engaging and sometimes challenging ways.
Sited@Bernheim is part of a larger intellectual dialog about the nature of public art and is a shining example of public art at its best. It has impact beyond Bernheim’s borders and helps to define the evolution of contemporary art as the region develops and unfurls its public art program, becoming a part of the energy that drives innovation on many levels.

Earth Measure
Another Sited@Bernheim project, Earth Measure by Louisville sculptor Matt Weir, was completed in October 2013. Titled after the ancient Greek origins for ‘geometry,’ Earth Measure is an artwork honoring the life of Barry Bingham Jr.’s life and dedication to public service (1993-2006). This permanent art installation can be found at the east end of the Big Prairie and must be experienced to be appreciated!
Forest Giants in a Giant Forest
Completed in 2019, Thomas Dambo’s Forest Giants in a Giant Forest installation at Bernheim consists of three sculptures that spark the imagination by hinting at a story and letting others build upon it. The installation offers a deep connection with nature through the lens of art by creating a sense of place and memorable experiences. Together with his crew, Dambo makes beautiful and fun sculptures out of repurposed and natural materials. By recycling these materials, he hopes to inspire people to have fun and think of trash as a resource. The Forest Giants are expected to last through 2022 - perhaps longer.
