Bernheim is thrilled to share that our Interpretive Programs Manager, Wren Smith, has been nationally recognized for her incredible work connecting people with nature. At the National Association for Interpretation (NAI) annual conference in St. Augustine, Florida, Wren received the 2024 NAI Award of Distinction by Raymond J. Novotny, honoring her exceptional contributions to the field of interpretation. She was also awarded the Thomas Say Award of Excellence: Outstanding Naturalist 2024, which honors her achievements as a naturalist and her ability to inspire awareness, understanding, and stewardship of the natural world.

For over 20 years, Wren has been at the heart of Bernheim’s Volunteer Naturalist program, mentoring volunteers and creating opportunities for visitors to connect deeply with the natural world. Through her leadership, she has inspired countless people to view nature with curiosity and care, making every visit to Bernheim a meaningful experience.
