Welcoming Caitlin Eckard

Caitlin Eckard appointed Director of Education & Interpretation

Caitlin Eckard has been named Director of Education and Interpretation at Bernheim. With a strong background in educational programs and interpretation, Caitlin will lead Bernheim’s efforts in creating, delivering and promoting learning opportunities that foster a deep connection to nature.

Through collaboration with staff and stakeholders, she will work to enhance the educational offerings and ensure meaningful connections with the community.

“Bernheim offers an amazing selection of educational experiences and events,” explained Caitlin. “I am excited to continue to champion these initiatives and build even more impactful programs and experiences for visitors.”

Prior to her appointment as Director of Education and Interpretation, Caitlin served as education manager at Powell Gardens in Kingsville, Mo., before being promoted to assistant director of visitor engagement. During her career, she has also held key positions in museums and historical sites, where she focused on enhancing interpretive experiences.

“We are excited to welcome Caitlin to Bernheim,” stated Rebecca Brady, Chief Operating Officer at Bernheim. “Her expertise in program development and event planning are an asset to this role and organization at large. Her passion and curiosity align well with our amazing team who are dedicated to building connections with nature.”

Bernheim offers a wealth of educational opportunities for all ages to inspire a lifelong relationship with nature. Programs and events are designed to be fun, creative and grounded in natural sciences. Bernheim educators use storytelling, art, music and hands-on science discovery to showcase the wonder of nature. Every year, more than 10,000 children engage through field trips, homeschool hikes, camps and out-reach programs with schools. Bernheim also caters to curious adults with a diverse range of activities. From engaging birding expeditions to informative guided hikes and enchanting night-time adventures, there is something for everyone looking to explore nature in a unique way.
