The farm to fork movement has been the talk of the town in recent years. Bernheim has been taking it to the next level since the opening of the Edible Garden in 2014. Throughout the growing season, Isaac’s Café, inside the Visitor Center, will feature dishes created from the bounty of the Edible Garden, located across the street – talk about local! Seasonal vegetables and fruit will be used in a wide variety of salads, sandwiches, soups and more.
In keeping with the local spirit, the Café also uses local products, from Breadworks bread to Boone’s ham and Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese on our sandwiches. Of course, who could enjoy a summer outing without Ice Cream? Isaac’s can satisfy your sweet tooth with rotating flavors from The Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen.
Kathy Hart, the Visitor Center’s new Assistant Manager, has brought her passion for cooking to the Café – this summer’s menu will feature many new and exciting dishes, with more options for vegans and vegetarians and flavors from across the globe. Don’t worry, the favorites won’t be going anywhere; you can still stop by for a Nutty Bird sandwich any time.
Hungry for more? One of the goals of the Edible Garden is to have no waste, and you can be the beneficiary! Periodically, we will have extra harvest from the garden that will be sold in the Visitor Center. Products vary from greens to vegetables to herbs. They will be sold while supply lasts. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter to learn about these sales.
