GE Appliances Donates Double Oven to Support Isaac’s Café
Bernheim Forest and Arboretum recently received a double oven through the GE Appliances Community Engagement Donation Program. The donated GE Profile™ 30” Smart Built-In Convection Double Wall Oven was installed at Isaac’s Café, further strengthening a long-standing partnership between GE Appliances and Bernheim.
GE Appliances has supported Bernheim Forest for years through a comprehensive approach that extends beyond in-kind donations. The company has played a role in helping bring the world-renowned Forest Giants to Bernheim, while also engaging employees in ongoing volunteer efforts from forestry maintenance and conservation support to advancing inclusive forest design that ensures accessibility and belonging for all visitors.
The ENERGY STAR®-certified convection technology reduces energy use by cooking food faster and more evenly, helping lower the café’s overall electricity consumption. This upgrade supports Bernheim’s commitment to sustainability while enhancing operations within its LEED Platinum-certified Visitor Center. The donation reflects GE Appliances’ continued investment in initiatives that promote environmental stewardship and long-term community impact.

“At Isaac’s Café, we make everything from scratch, from sauces to desserts,” said Chef and Isaac’s Café Manager Katianne Hembrey. “This new oven will double our capacity and make the kitchen much more efficient.”
Isaac’s Café is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Visitor Center at Bernheim. Guests can enjoy a variety of salads, sandwiches, soups, and specialty desserts year-round. In 2025 alone, visitors purchased more than 14,000 desserts. The café also supports catering for group visits and fundraising events, including CONNECT at Bernheim and quarterly Evening at Isaac’s programs.
“This donation will in turn support local farmers and partners in the community,” added Hembrey. “With increased capacity, we’ll be able to source even more ingredients from local, family-run businesses.”
