Discover L+A+N+D on October 12, 2024
Bernheim Forest and Arboretum is happy to announce its latest art initiative, L+A+N+D (Landscape + Art + Nature + Design), an experience of discovery will open to the public on October 12, 2024. Visitors are invited to join a family-friendly, hands-on exploration of L+A+N+D from 1 PM to 4 PM.
This innovative new program features ten immersive and thought-provoking experiences that highlight beauty in the landscape, biodiversity, conservation, sustainability, and climate change. These large-scale outdoor installations are spread across new accessible pathways, offering visitors unique and engaging encounters with nature.
Inspired by the prestigious International Garden Festivals at Le Jardins de Métis in Quebec and Domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire in France, L+A+N+D builds upon decades of collaboration with creatives of art in the landscape. This dynamic space brings together works from architects, landscape architects, designers, and artists from around the globe, celebrating their unique approaches to the environment and public art. Each installation sparks the imagination, stimulates conversations, and fosters a deeper appreciation of the natural world.
The experiences promote environmental knowledge and advocacy, addressing crucial issues such as the climate crisis, biodiversity, and sustainability. Visitors will be encouraged to explore and engage with these artistic expressions in Bernheim’s wild woods and open expanses, creating an unforgettable journey through nature and design.
Following the success of the Forest Giants in a Giant Forest project, L+A+N+D continues Bernheim’s tradition of blending sustainability with artistic beauty in nature. This program aims to be an essential cultural experience and a significant draw for visitors, with an estimated 350,000 people expected to explore these outdoor works annually.
Bernheim’s Arts in Nature program, deeply rooted in the organization’s mission since its founding by Isaac W. Bernheim, has elevated the institution as a regional, national, and international leader in nature arts programming. Through initiatives like the 44-year-old established Artist in Residence program and site-specific commissioned works, Bernheim continues to create spaces where art, nature, and education intersect and excite!
Additional Discover L+A+N+D events will be held from 1 PM to 4 PM on November 9 and December 14. Learn more about L+A+N+D and view the events calendar.
