Celebrate Spring with BloomFest at Bernheim on May 17
The family-friendly event returns along with Bernheim’s Spring Plant Sale.
Bernheim Forest and Arboretum is thrilled to announce that BloomFest will be held on Saturday, May 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Visitor Center. Celebrate Spring and delight in the splendor of blooms at Bernheim. This family-friendly festival is one of Bernheim’s longest-running events and offers activities and excitement for all ages.
Highlights of BloomFest include story time, hands-on nature discovery stations, musical entertainment with Mr. Dan the Green Giant, and arts and craft activities – like making faerie crowns and wands and constructing garden faerie houses for the faerie village.
“BloomFest is a day of fun, fantasy, and flowers for the young and young at heart,” explained Wren Smith, Interpretive Programs Manager at Bernheim Forest and Arboretum. “Our youngest attendees always enjoy dressing up as faeries and gnomes and participating in the Faerie and Gnome Parade.
Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite costumes, and Bernheim will have a costume loaning tent available for borrowing faerie wings and gnome hats.
Bernheim’s Spring Plant Sale is being held outside the Visitor Center in conjunction with BloomFest. Bernheim’s horticulture team will be offering a mix of vegetable plants and herbs ready to take home and plant in gardens, raised beds or pots. A selection of early blooming perennials will be offered as well. These native pollinator plants will provide early season color and habitat support through the season for butterflies, bees and birds for years to come.
Members of the horticulture team at Bernheim will be on-hand to answer questions and offer advice on installing and maintaining your selections.
