Let There Be Light

Let There Be Light

George Grey Barnard (Bellefonte, PA)
Materials: Granite, bronze

Originally installed at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Let There Be Light was moved to Bernheim’s Prairie Overlook after the forest opened to the public in the early 1950s. The monument marks the gravesite of Isaac Wolfe Bernheim and his wife, Amanda Uri Bernheim. Twin granite pylons symbolize the Jewish and Christian faiths, while a bronze figure stands watch over the Arboretum, offering a contemplative tribute to unity, memory, and light.

Location: Big Prairie Overlook, just off the main Arboretum Loop.
