About the Artist
Ashley Peevor is a British artist recognized internationally for his innovative living costume sculptures that merge performance, nature, and design. He is best known for his Grass Men series, large-scale wearable works crafted from grass and other vegetation that invite direct interaction with the natural world. Peevor often incorporates community workshops into his practice, guiding participants in creating their own nature-based wearable art to foster creativity and environmental connection. Grass Men is a living sculpture consisting of costumes grown during workshops with youth from Louisville’s Smoketown community. These playful, vibrant figures were featured at Bernheim’s 10th annual CONNECT event in 2018, crafted entirely from living grasses and flora native to Bernheim.
