2018 Artist in Residence
Materials: Honey Locust tree, natural materials, rebar

Entgötterung is constructed from a Honey Locust tree originally slated for removal due to its decline in health. May transformed the tree into a freestanding, rooted sculpture in front of Bernheim’s Event Center. Through a process of deconstruction and reconfiguration, the tree’s limbs were reshaped into forms that appear digitally pixelated and geometric in nature. The work highlights the contrast between nature and technology, asking viewers to consider how digital progress shapes our relationship with the environment.

Location: Off the Arboretum Loop, near the Event Center and Earth Measure
