What are you doing this weekend? Why not join us at BloomFest, Bernheim’s annual celebration of spring! The costume parade, naturalist-led discovery stations, local artisans, and food vendors are just some of the many activities available for everyone to enjoy.
The day also coincides with our annual Spring Plant Sale, featuring Bernheim Select™ plants, a distinctive variety of plants propagated from Bernheim’s own collections, along with a varied selection of other unique trees, shrubs, grasses and perennial herbaceous plants. All plants are suitable for north central Kentucky growing. Bernheim horticulturalists will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice too. See a full list of plants here.
We also are in need of volunteers for the day’s events. Students can earn service hours, and all can celebrate spring while helping Bernheim connect people with nature. Click HERE to sign up.
The Plant Sale and BloomFest festivities take place from the Visitor Center to Two Ponds Loop, allowing visitors to also experience the traveling exhibit Vanishing Acts: Trees Under Threat running through July 5.
The exhibit developed by the Morton Arboretum shines a light on the plight of trees here in Kentucky and around the world. Take a walk through the exhibit to discover displays featuring trees near extinction and learn what they can do to protect these endangered species.
Adjacent to the exhibit, Bernheim has planted trees native to Kentucky that, while not facing extinction, are in a more vulnerable state. We call it Kentucky Trees of Concern.
BloomFest, the Spring Plant Sale and the Vanishing Acts exhibit are free, but the regular $5 environmental impact fee per car applies at the front gate for non-members.
We will see you Saturday!
