Bernheim has an amazing core of Volunteer Naturalists and Naturalist Assistants who lead or support many of our public programs, discovery experiences, summer camps, adult group tours, school field trips, and so much more. If you are interested in learning more about these volunteer opportunities, now’s your chance!
Volunteer Naturalists assist in furthering Bernheim’s mission of connecting people with nature, and advancing our Vision Statement: Bernheim will be a nationally treasured leader in ecological stewardship that inspire the exploration of our deep connection with nature.
The program has a rich curriculum throughout the year which includes trainings from Bernheim’s renowned Interpretive Programs Manager, Wren Smith, other long-time Naturalists, and Certified Interpretive Guides and plenty of opportunities to engage with Bernheim’s visitors. Each new volunteer will begin as a Naturalist Assistant and have a seasoned Volunteer Naturalist as a mentor, allowing each volunteer to gain hands-on experience on the journey to becoming a Volunteer Naturalist.
If you are interested in learning more about these volunteer opportunities, join us on Saturday, January 28, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Education Center to learn more about this award-winning program. Orientation happens just once a year, so don’t miss out.
Anyone interested in attending the Naturalist Orientation should complete the general volunteer orientation prior to the naturalist orientation. The next general orientation will be held on Saturday, January 28 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Education Center.
