Finding the Middle Ground: Isaac’s Café Specials, December 4-8

By Kathy Hart

One of the many conversations I have at the Visitor Center and Isaac’s Café, is where folks are coming from and what brought them to Bernheim.  It turns out that being just one mile off of I-65, puts Bernheim as the perfect halfway point for friends and family to meet.  With Nashville and Indianapolis two hours either way or Louisville and Elizabethtown a more manageable twenty minutes, Bernheim and Isaac’s Café makes for the perfect place to find that middle ground.

I was thinking about the concept of finding middle ground while making a few changes in our winter menu for Isaac’s Café.  On the one hand, you have the regulars who faithfully order favorites like the Nutty Bird, Rattler and our Garden Club Chicken Salad Sandwich and have asked us to bring back the Bernie (a one of a kind sandwich of smoked turkey, cranberry compote with walnuts, Norwood cheese and our own sage mayo) and on the other, you have requests for new favorites, like the increasingly popular Chickpea Salad Sandwich for those looking for a meat-free option.  To please both current and future regulars, our sandwiches will now come with the crunch of Zapp’s Kettle chips and the ever popular Pop’s Pickles! As always, you will find two fresh made soups, seasonal sides and a $6.95 Daily Special using the abundance of vegetables and herbs harvested from our Edible Garden. Don’t forget, we have gluten free wraps, and you can turn any of our sandwiches into a unique salad or ask for meat and dairy alternatives.

Finding that middle ground with friends and family is not always easy  but you won’t need a GPS to find the middle ground between great taste and fresh, local, healthy food at Isaac’s Café.

Our meatless Monday special is our chickpea salad sandwich, our seasonal side of carrot ginger slaw and choice of tea or lemonade for just $6.95.
