Sensory Garden Grand Opening
June 16 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT
The reinvigorated feature is designed to allow people to connect with nature the way we all do – through our senses. Each of the five senses has its own bed to highlight plants that enhance those senses.
Also featured is a quiet space, so anyone who needs a moment of calm can enter, have a seat, and be soothed while encompassed in nature.
Interpretive Signage including pictograph and Braille components to describe each sensory landscape bed, the quiet space, and overall purpose of the space. Tree identification signs with Braille can be found in the picnic area adjacent the Smell and Quiet spaces.
The space was designed in collaboration with partners like Families for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT), Kentucky School for the Blind Foundation, and others.
