Introduction to Wildlife Tracking

Come to Bernheim and learn about the fascinating world of wildlife tracking. Every time we step outside of our door, there are myriad stories to be told of the comings and goings of animals in the world, and one of the oldest human capacities is to read and interpret these stories. The art and science of tracking offers a holistic look into the happenings of the living world around us. Expert tracker and educator, Marcus Reynerson, will be facilitating the one day introduction to the art and science of tracking.
In this day-long workshop, you will gain a foundational skill set in exploring the vast world of wildlife tracking. We will explore:
• Basic wildlife foot physiology and morphology
• Clear print identification
• Concepts in behavior and wildlife sign interpretation
• How wildlife interacts with landscapes
• The art of inquiry and questioning and engaging curiosity
While we will cover some key fundamental themes, every tracking experience is unique. We will follow our curiosity as well as the tracks and trails of the animals we come across at Bernheim. While this course is certainly sufficient to stand alone in terms of learning the fundamentals of tracking, this workshop will set participants up well for the more intensive Wildlife Tracking Certification being offered in October 2019.

Ages 18 and up. Be prepared to get muddy, walk up and down steep slopes, and go off trail. Pets are not allowed.
The program will include a break for lunch. Participants can pack a lunch or enjoy a fresh, local, and delicious meal from Isaac’s Café.
