Eagle Scout Event: Bats at Bernheim Fundraiser

March 30, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 7:00 pm EDT

Brown Bat

My name is Daniel Kramer. I am a Life Scout in Jeffersonville, IN, Troop 1. My Eagle Scout Project is dedicated to bat conservation. The reason why is because of my interest in them. I appreciate their uniqueness, being the only true flying mammal in the world. I understand their vital role in the ecosystem, and how their population is declining at such an unhealthy rate.

As a child, I enjoyed walking with my family at night, and watching the bats fly over. Their presence was enjoyed so much, that we were even going to build a bat house to install in our backyard. However, after some investigating into the idea, my parents decided against it. This project is my tribute to that enjoyment I experienced as a kid.
