Creatures of the Night: In Search of the Blue Ghost
June 24 @ 9:00 pm - 11:30 pm EDT
Spring is an opera, complete with throaty vocals, high pitched vibratos, and an expert cast of creatures, each playing its part in this ancient drama. Creatures of the Night programs provide opportunities to experience the sights and sounds of natural phenomena that often go unnoticed. Journey with Bill Napper and fellow Volunteer Naturalists on a driving tour into sections of Bernheim where crepuscular and nocturnal creatures are most active. Program includes a small amount of hiking through easy terrain.
This is your best chance to experience the Blue Ghost Firefly, Phausis reticulata, with its amazing, unusual continuous glowing display. We can’t guarantee that we will find it, but we will have beautiful displays of many species of fireflies and enjoy the hunt! Also check out our Firefly Fridays scheduled throughout the month of June.
Bernheim members $12; non-members $15
