This workshop examines the history of play-based learning and the spectrum of play strategies that support healthy child development through outdoor play. It provides an overview of current research into play while focusing on specific strategies that lead to incremental improvement of outdoor play environments. Participants will learn how to select from among a number of options and strategies as they seek to match their play environments to the philosophies and objectives of their organization. The format for the workshop blends presentations, small and large group discussions and hands-on group activities.
