Bernheim Book Club: Admiring Animals of the Forest
May 27 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm EDT
The Bernheim Book Club seeks to carry out the mission of connecting people with nature through a literary lens. Each month, a theme or topic will be chosen, along with two options – a fiction and a nonfiction – for readers to choose between. In addition to the themed book selection, there will be opportunities to share recommendations for other resources that tie into each month’s theme.
The club will meet virtually once a month on the fourth Saturday of the month (some exceptions will apply due to Bernheim events). Members who cannot attend the live gatherings can view discussion prompts will be provided on Bernheim’s Facebook page. Prompt questions will remain live on Facebook, so you can join at any time and still catch up on previous themes.
Members of the Book Club are encouraged to share their thoughts, provide insight surrounding the texts, ask relevant questions, and contribute to a supportive environment. While discourse is necessary for vibrant discussion, please keep it kind and civil.
Bernheim cannot provide complete texts, so members are responsible for finding copies of the monthly readings.

- Fiction: The Animals of Farthing Wood by Colin Dann
- Nonfiction: The Lost Words and/or The Lost Spells by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris
- Supplemental Resource: ‘The Animals of Farthing Wood’ –Episode 1: “The Wood inDanger” (1993)
