Backcountry Discovery Hike & Tour

June 7 @ 10:00 am - 2:30 pm

Wilson Creek Wetland Restoration

Go beyond the familiar and discover Bernheim’s backcountry on a guided van tour led by our Volunteer Naturalists. Travel along Bernheim’s gravel backroads to explore remote areas of the forest, including Wilson Creek Valley, Eagle Ridge viewpoint, a historic swimming hole, future wetland sites, and a stop at the Bean House. Along the way, you’ll ford four creeks and take a short walk through a large native canebrake.

This adventure offers access to areas only reachable with a guide and includes several short, easy walks along old wagon roads with minimal elevation change, totaling about ½ mile of walking.

For your safety and comfort, sturdy, treaded shoes or hiking boots are essential, and hiking sticks are recommended. Please avoid tennis shoes, as trails may be uneven or slippery. Bring water and a sack lunch or snacks to enjoy at the Bean House.

Bernheim members $20; Non-members $25

Registration required by 4 p.m. the day prior to the program. No pets, please. Call (502) 215-7155 or click the button below to register.
