Bernheim statement on COVID-19

The safety and well-being of our visitors, volunteers and staff are our first priority at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest. We understand the concern surrounding COVID-19 and are committed to following the recommendations of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the state and local governments. We will continue to monitor developments, as much remains unknown.

What we do know is that nature provides a place for fresh air, beauty and peace and it is recommended that during this situation, people avoid total isolation, spend time outdoors, get physical exercise and take care of their mental health. Bernheim believes in the power of nature to help ease tension in this time of uncertainty, so we will remain open. We have taken additional cleaning precautions in all of our indoor spaces. For the time being, all of our programs will occur outdoors when possible. With 16,137 acres and over 40 miles of hiking trails, Bernheim is a great place to practice social distancing.

Scheduled programs will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Stay informed and up to date on Bernheim’s website and social media for the most current information.

Spring is arriving rapidly, with blooming magnolias, cherry trees, daffodils, and more, so we hope you’ll enjoy the hope and renewal that comes with the season. Take care of yourselves, your families, and each other, and if you need a cure for cabin fever, come out and enjoy nature at Bernheim.
