Let Bernheim Help You Begin Planning Your Edible Garden

Ready to start planning your edible landscape? Planting seeds of knowledgeFebruary is the month to begin your garden and start seeds of cool season vegetable plants indoors. Come to Bernheim this Saturday, February 18 for two informative and interactive Smart Gardens & Landscapes workshops.

Begin the day by joining Nursery Manager, Renée Hutchison from 10 a.m. – Noon, for a workshop, Planning Your Edible Ornamental Garden. This session will provides the information you need to plant a successful harvest. Participants will learn about plant and site selection, garden design, site preparation, labeling and the care and maintenance of their garden.

Another workshop will be held that afternoon. Join Horticulturist Eric Garris from 1 – 3 p.m. and learn to plan, care for, and harvest from your edible landscape for years to come in this interactive workshop, Fruit Trees and Shrubs. The session will teach participants how to grow fruit and nut trees and/or a berry patch at home as well as what grows well in the state of Kentucky.

Registration and payment due by 4 p.m. on the day prior to the start of the program by calling (502) 955-8512. The cost is $10 per session for Bernheim members and $15 per session for non-members. A $5 per car weekend environmental fee for Non-Members applies at the front gate.

Forest Hill Drive and Guerilla Hollow trails are closed on Saturday, March 25 due to high winds. The Arboretum, including the Visitor Center, Playcosystem, and the Forest Giants Trail, will remain open.
