Bernheim Hosts SONICBernheim Event

SonicBernheimThis month Bernheim debuts its newest lecture and performance series exploring the relationship between sound, music and nature. The first of three SONICBernheim events takes place on Friday, July 31.

The inaugural speaker is composer and educator Allen Anderson from the University of the North Carolina. Following Anderson’s short lecture on the relationship between natural sound and classical music, guests will in enjoy performances by regionally acclaimed artists including an ensemble of local youth musicians followed by jazz musician and composer, Jacob Duncan. Dane Waters will give the final performance. Waters is a vocalist and instrumentalist who has performed with the Kentucky Opera as well as numerous underground and avant-garde acts.

Musician and media professional Sara Soltau and sound artist and multimedia archivist Aaron Rosenblum are co-curators of the series.

“We’re thrilled to host this new sound series,” said Claude Stephens, Bernheim’s Outreach Facilitator. “We appreciate Sara’s and Aaron’s efforts to bring these amazing artists and thought leaders to Bernheim where they can seek inspiration from nature.”

The fun starts at 7:30 and ends at 11 p.m., beginning at the silos adjacent to the Education Center. Bernheim members $5, non-members $7.
