We request that all Bernheim Volunteers be aged 16 or older to volunteer individually. Those under the age of 15 may volunteer with a parent/guardian or any responsible adult aged 21 or older. Family Volunteer Day is a great way to have fun with the whole family and get your service hours.
Bernheim is happy to sign off on service hours for school projects or clubs. Please see the list of volunteer opportunities to find the position that most fits your interests.
In the past, we have found that the Trail Ranger works well for many students, as it works great with the flexible hours that are necessary for students’ busy schedule. It’s easy to get started – just come out to enjoy a beautiful hike on one of Bernheim’s 35 miles of trails, stop by the Visitor Center to pick up a Trail Inspection form, and let us know if the trail needs any work.
Are you a member of a service club? We have plenty of jobs for you! Working as a group at Bernheim is a great team-building activity, where your group will not only have fun working in the great outdoors, but also learn to work together completing one of the challenging natural activities. Projects include fire road maintenance, arboretum upkeep (mulching, weeding, etc) and of course festival work. Come out for one of our annual festivals and work in face painting, build faerie houses, sell food from our grills, etc. Students are a vital part of all of our festivals and they have a great time!
